The Alabama Broadband Connectivity for Students program is a public-private partnership to increase access to internet for eligible K-12 students across the State. Because of the number of eligible students and the geographic distribution of their homes — not to mention the amount of broadband capacity those students will need during the school year — the State is counting on the participation of many internet service providers.
The State has issued a Request for Information (RFI) to solicit commitments from qualified, established internet service providers:
The RFI clearly spells out the program participation requirements (including coverage, capacity, and customer service commitments) and invites respondents to present their qualifications and requested pricing.
The RFI includes guidance on how to submit questions related to the RFI. Representatives of internet service providers who have other questions about the program can call (205) 538-1485 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Central time, Monday through Friday.
